Our Advice for Customers Wishing to Buy an Electric Shower
An electric shower differs from a standard shower running off the water heating system in that it heats water only as it is required and does not store hot water to be drawn on. This makes an electric shower the ideal choice for households with large families, where the shower is likely to be in great demand as one person after another wants a morning or evening shower. There's no chance of the hot water 'running out' before the last person has even set foot in the bathroom!
As water is only heated when needed, an electric shower is more economical than a traditional shower, wasting less money on heating water which is allowed to go cool and contributing to the reduction of the home's carbon footprint. Additionally an electric shower is the only type of shower that can work independently of the hot water system, meaning that if your boiler or hot water cylinder breaks down, you can still carry on having showers.
An electric shower can be installed practically anywhere in the home as all it requires is to be plumbed into the cold water rising main. This makes it a great choice for en-suite bathrooms and downstairs cloakroom suites. Many electric showers come with additional safety features like thermostatic controls, automatic shut-down functions and large, easy-to-operate control switches or buttons, giving you peace of mind while showering.
However you've got to bear in mind is that an electric shower is not a power shower. Where a power shower incorporates a pump to boost flow to the showerhead, an electric shower is totally dependant on your mains water pressure. If you have low water pressure in your area, an electric shower might not be the most suitable choice.
