Eden’s Condensing Technology

• Stainless Steel ‘Coil’ Heat Exchanger - manufactured from highly corrosion resistant austenitic Stainless Steel enabling low wall thickness but high strength - minimises weight and maximises heat conductivity.

• Cylindrical pre-mix ‘radiant’ burner - maximises efficiency by enabling wide modulation and low combustion temperatures - an important factor in achieving low emissions of CO (carbon monoxide) and NOx (nitrogen oxide).

• Individual Flow and Return temperature sensors - enables boiler output to be modulated based on flow/return temperature differential. Used with TRVs and room stats, condensing operation and system efficiency may be maximised.

• Syphonic condensate trap with built in fume stop - at its maximum efficiency the boiler can create up to 1.5 litres per hour of condensate. The syphonic trap is designed to ‘dump’ condensate periodically - particularly important in cold weather where a constant drip from a standard trap may lead to ice build up and blockage. The built in fume stop prevents flue gases escaping due to evaporation of condensate in the trap and avoids the need to prime the trap after installation.

• Electronics - LCD displays system temperature and pressure as well as providing a diagnostic facility in the event of boiler failure. Fully encased electronics (to IPx4D) prevent moisture ingress and enable Eden boilers to be used in a wide range of environments.

• Plastic flue components - both horizontal and vertical flue systems use plastic parts where contact is made with condensate to prevent corrosion.

What’s so special about condensing boilers?

More and more householders are beginning to appreciate the energy-saving advantages of installing a condensing boiler as their chosen source of central heating. Its special design means that a condensing boiler is able to extract more heat from the burning gas to heat the central heating hot water, than a conventional boiler. This results in lower exhaust gas temperatures which, under optimum conditions, will naturally condense within the boiler, creating water droplets (condensate) which drain into the boiler’s integral trap. So, condensing boilers mean lower fuel bills for you and lower CO2 emissions for the environment!

The benefits of condensing boilers

• High efficiency boiler means less fuel used and lower fuel bills.

• Up to 95% energy efficient* - conserving fossil fuel resources and protecting the environment.

• Less greenhouse gases - remember domestic heating is responsible for almost 25% of all CO2 emissions.

• Easy to install and simple to use, modern design.

*Note: For any condensing boiler to offer the full benefits of efficiency, central heating flow should be set so that the return temperature is below 50°C. Lower return temperatures will give even greater efficiency.

We recommend with every boiler purchased having some kind of extra Scale Inhibitor system in place. This will increase the longevity of the boiler and hot water cylinder of your home. Our best sellers are listed above, you can select one of these with your boiler purchase. Listed below are the differences and fitting instructions to help you with your choice, also at the bottom of the page is a short explanation what hard water is and what it causes.

Please not: All boilers need to be fitted by registered CORGI fitters and will have to be approved by them. Please do not purchase any items without consulting your plumber before.

Please also do not arrange for a plumber until you are in receipt of your goods and are completely satisfied.

What Energy Efficiency means for the environment

We realise that when fossil fuels burn they cause damaging greenhouse gases. Every one has heard of global warming and one quarter of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions every year originate from the energy used to heat and light our homes.

Producing products that use less of these essential fuels and thus cause less of a damaging effect on the environment are at the top of our agenda. Replacing a boiler, which is over 15 years, old with a new condensing model will save over a third on your fuel bills and reduce the emissions collectively responsible for climate change. We can help you by providing an extensive choice of boilers from which to choose.

Commitment to Energy Efficiency

As the market leader in the UK you would expect Baxi Potterton to be well placed to respond to social and environmental change. We believe we are not only responding but are actually leading the way in terms of our approach to providing energy efficient products to the market place.

All Baxi Potterton products are listed on the SEDBUK Boiler Efficiency Database. This database lists the seasonal efficiency of all domestic boilers in the UK. Our newer models have actually gained Energy Efficiency Recommended status.

From March 2002 all gas boilers must be 78% efficient or more. We are pleased to say that all of our current range already meet that criteria whilst our new high efficiency range are over 90% efficient.
Water Problems

Over 60% of the uk live in a hard water area this essentially means that when water is heated hard scale forms on washing machines, showers, dishwashers Combination Boilers and taps, etc. This gets worse the longer it is left, leading to expensive maintenance costs or replacing for new.

1. Water Hardness
There are two types of hardness. Temporary hardness comes out of the water when it's heated and is deposited as scale and fur on kettles, boilers and taps. Also appears as scum or film on tea and coffee. Permanent hardness is unaffected by heating.

Solution: Water Softener, Scale Inhibitor, Water Filter.

2. Chlorine

Added at water treatment plants to destroy contaminants, disinfect the water and minimise bacteria. Imparts an unpleasant taste and odour.

Solution: Water Filters, Reverse Osmosis

3. Particles & Rust
Come from a gradual breakdown of the lining of concrete or iron mains water pipes or from sediment that has been disturbed.

Solution: Water Filters, Reverse Osmosis
