6000 to 7000 BTUs Radiators
Choosing a 6,000–7,000 BTU radiator
This range may suit a living room or other regularly used space if its calculated heat loss is around 6,000–7,000 BTUs. Room dimensions are a starting point, but insulation, glazing, ceiling height and exposed walls affect the heat required. Calculate the room’s heat loss before choosing an output.
Check the output at your temperatures
Compare BTU or watt figures quoted at the same ΔT, the difference between the radiator’s average water temperature and room temperature. A radiator delivers less heat at lower water temperatures. For a heat pump or another low-temperature system, check the manufacturer’s output at your intended operating conditions.
Check the space and connections
Look at height, width and panel and convector configuration as well as heat output. Measure the wall and pipe centres, and allow enough room for valves and the manufacturer’s installation clearances.
