Choosing a radiator up to 1,500 BTUs
A lower-output radiator can be a neat choice for a compact, well-insulated space, such as a small hallway or cloakroom. It may also add warmth alongside another heat source. Don’t assume it will heat a room by itself: calculate the room’s heat loss, allowing for glazing, insulation, ceiling height and outside walls, before choosing the output.
Compare heat output on the right basis
Check the product’s BTU or watt rating and its stated ΔT value. ΔT measures the difference between the radiator’s average water temperature and room temperature. A radiator produces less heat when run with cooler water, so use a rating that reflects your system, especially for a heat pump or other low-temperature setup.
Measure before ordering
Check height and width, panel configuration, pipe centres, wall-to-pipe centres and room for the valves. Match these details to your available wall space and existing pipework rather than assuming any standard spacing.
